Thank you for your presence and for making space in your life to read these words.

It is my hope that this online space fills the hollow void left by other platforms and becomes a much needed offering (for both of us) of momentary pause to digest small, rich bites of beauty and to walk away with inspiration in our pockets.

Who I Am (in one paragraph)

I’m Haley, the multi-dimensional creative behind Hina Luna, a sometimes hard to define ongoing art project/micro business/heart piece I created in 2016. I am also a rural island dweller, making home with my husband and our animal friends. My current greatest joys are often set at the table, in good company, and with good food. These are also the scenes of my most treasured memories from childhood and the lifeline connecting me to my ancestors. I believe it is part of my life’s purpose to create spaces and offer tools that inspire us to live life more slowly and thoughtfully, in intimate connection to ourselves, our people, our place, our rituals and routines, and to the beauty and pleasures that exist all around us. This to me feels essential especially when the world feels hard and requires our attention and participation in making it more just for all. Part of starting this writing practice is honoring that calling and stepping up to that role.

What you’ll find here

The musings and inspired writings you’ll find here are a view into my life as a creative, as a compassionate human for people and planet, as a future ancestor and ever-curious descendant, and as a woman bravely accepting the label of writer with little more than a commitment to consistency and a wish that something you read here will support your journey to living a more connected life.

Posts may include:

  • Musings, curiosities, and storytelling from my life here on Hawai’i Island

  • Short-lists of noteworthy things and recommendations from the week

  • Visual diaries

  • Essays on connecting with the ancestors

  • Introspective journaling prompts around the new or full moons and change of the seasons

  • And more yet to be defined because there is no plan here, friends!

As this writing practice evolves, I hope you will stick around for the journey. Where it will lead we have yet to see, but the result, I expect, will be one of authentic and honest connection which is something I think we all could use a little more of.

With love,
